At an incredibly early age, Iwas personally able to personally experience and see what influential impact caseworkers/Social Workers have in the outcome of the wellbeing of children, to patientcare and proper placement, which sparked my desire at the age of ten of wantingto become a social worker.However, some life setbacks and negative opinionsof others, and lack of support made it challenging for me to achieve my goalssooner. I experienced financial hardship, academic insecurities, and suddenfamily health problems that required my presence and temporarily relocated inmy first and second attempts. During my enrollment at Washington Bible College,I lost the only two people that came close to having a mother or father, mygrandfather to Parkinson’s, and my grandmother to a heart attack six monthslater. Then a year later, my brother suddenly passed from an aneurysm.After Washington Bible College closed,I took some time off to properly morn and get the help needed for my life to beback on track. Once I returned, my grades improved tremendously, going from aGPA of 2.24 to a GPA of 3.78, which shows my hard work, dedication, and growthas an academic student. In 2018 after discussion with my career /academic thrumy employer I switch gears and decided to give nursing school a shot, because alongwith my husband my advisor thought that majoring in Social Work was a complete wasteand refused to sign off or support me if I continued on that path, so made thedecision to change my major. I enrolledat Colorado Tech University and Chamberlain College of Nursing, where Imaintained a GPA higher than 3.0. until the pandemic happened I had developedbetter organization and time management skills to balance work, academics, andpersonal responsibilities with hard work and dedication. Although I had toendure the rough, times, I let my hardships serve as a lesson and a reminder tostay focused and motivated to attain my goal by fully applying myself, beingmore focused, and dedicated.I have seen, experienced, and provided some of the same kind of care, compassionlove, and understanding that social workers give that aide in improving the wellbeingof others, which is why I am so eager to become a social worker.Program StudyI learned about Grand Canyon University through my employernew career advisor during my annually review, and after researching learningabout the universities mission and religious foundation and seeing how it remindedme of WBC one of the Universities, I previously attended I was immediatelyreminded of my first passion Social work, and I became more interested in theadmission process and if I qualified for the Bachelors of Social Work program.I was getting more hopeful and consumed with emotion becauseonce my academic counselor informed me of everything that the school entailed ofand had to offer, I was able to vision myself successfully navigation, allwhile making my father in heaven proud.
